PR 1.0 – $139.88
The PR 1.0 is set to reset your expectations of comfort. PR stands for Performance Recreation, as this seat is as comfortable on a hybrid bike as it is a full-blown race machine. Our PR saddles feature more padding than the other ISM performance saddles, making them perfect for cyclists that want a softer ride – whether you ride in padded cycling shorts, or regular everyday clothing. Like all ISM saddles, the PR 1.0 is nose-less and designed to remove pressure from soft tissue, ensuring maximum blood flow, no genital numbness, and a healthier, more enjoyable ride.

Customer Reviews of The PR 1.0 Saddle
It’s easy to fit and set up. It’s more comfortable than regular saddles.
Very happy with the seat first time out on a 20 mile ride. Followed the fitting videos on ism, could do with a little further adjustment to get it bang on. What I did like about the seat is that if you felt a bit of discomfort during the ride, you could change your position on the seat and find comfort instantly without having to get up out of the saddle eg moving from a prone position to a sitting up position for a while and back to prone was enough to relieve any discomfort.
Pros: good in a prone or sitting up position
After experiencing years of saddle discomfort, just accepting it as a necessary part of cycling, a friend recommended this saddle to me. I eventually took the plunge and bought it. I’m so glad I did! No more soft tissue pain! It took a little bit of fettling to get the position right but it was an immediate improvement. My weight is now more on my sit bones, so I can definitely feel those more but any initial soreness there is vastly preferable to the previous discomfort in my ‘lady bits’!
Pros: Comfortable, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
I am a 73 yr old 6 ,2, male living in Spain and ride a lot of miles per year. Out of the 13 yrs I have ridden here saddles have always been my nemesis. I had 6 saddles, but this was the golden nugget of seats. It is so comfy and once I found the right spot I was able to sit still and not have to move for at least an hour. I can't recommend these saddles enough and I no longer suffer from numbness. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, best bike investment ever...
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
Takes a little adjustment as its different from other saddles (further back and a little lower than the one it replaced. Much, much more comfortable than the last one. Use this each work day for a nine mile round trip commute.
Pros: Comfortable, High Quality
I completed a charity event last year which included 75K of cycling. Not having really cycled for 30 years, cycling after having children and various operations etc. was extremely painful to say the least, and after the event I was in agony and couldn't sit down! Just like after I gave birth!!
I knew to complete this event again I would need to research saddles and was amazed as to how much information there was. After trying a couple of different ones - I chose this one as even if it does not feel as soft as other saddles, you realise after 12K the softness is not what makes the difference.
I have now just completed this event for a 2nd time and the difference is a life changer! No pain at all, no numbness, and I can sit down!!!!
This saddle has definitely worked for me and I would highly recommend anyone in the same situation to give it a try....
all the best.....
First impression was the unusual shape and as such I was a little sceptical whether it would be comfortable, but the reality is it provides a brilliant comfortable ride. Ridden for years with traditional saddles, but recently underwent surgery in the "under carriage" area. The Consultant would not confirm a link, but I am convinced there was. The advice that accompanies the saddle suggests a progressive breaking in period with increasing time in the saddle. However, my first ride of 4 hours was extremely comfortable and with no genital numbness at all, in comparison with that previously experienced with traditional type saddles. In terms of style the ISM saddle is designed to sit further back (about two inches) - so some may be put off by this - but for me it was a great buy and have converted my seven bike "stable" with variations of the ISM. Really pleased.
I have these saddles on each of my bikes and now would not use anything else. Bit whacky to look at but cannot beat the comfort!
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
I've had recent prostate surgery, so I needed something that wouldn't inflame that area. This is perfect and lets you sit on your tail bone with no pressure anywhere else.
It doesn't feel awkward or insecure, and gives you a good riding position if you have it further back than usual. Maybe a bit less padded than I would like, but I'll get used to that.
Pros: comfort, position
Cons: not for traditionalists
I previously wrote a very frank and honest review about the "women's problems" I had experienced cycling prior to buying this saddle. The ISM PR 1.0 has been life changing for me, and I wanted to shout it from the rooftops in the hope that I would help the 1000's of other female cyclists who suffer from the same common problems. Sadly, Wiggle rejected this as they require a more conservative review. So all I will (can) say is...if the flower hurts, buy this saddle! You won't regret it.
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
Good saddle and comfortable, although wider than my traditional saddle.
As soon as I rode with this new saddle I knew it was the perfect choice. So comfortable and it changed my riding position slightly. I now enjoy a four hour ride with no discomfort! Really an excellent product and at a good price.
Pros: Comfortable, Great Value
Just returned from a five day cycling trip around Holland, and I can still walk ! This saddles has transformed cycling for me, and the numbness I used to experience all the time is a thing of the past ! Excellent saddle, though a little pricey, is worth every penny, and the service form Chain Reaction was first class ! Thank you.
Pros: comfort
Cons: slightly pricey
The most comfortable saddle I’ve ever had by a long way but saddle fit is such a personal thing. This shape really suits my bum. Wearing well. There is a handy bit at the back of the saddle to use as a handle when lifting the bike but this makes fitting a saddle bag for bike packing really difficult.
It took me some time to get used to this saddle - but once I adjusted and found the perfect position for my 'sit bones' I have not had any pain since. It is more comfortable than a regular saddle. I definitely recommend this saddle for the track - will make riding more pleasant.
Pros: comfortable
Cons: need time to experiment with saddle positions
It took a little while and perseverance with setting the seat height and distance correctly, however I can say now that after some 600km + of rides, my butt, back and coccyx are extremely grateful for the upgraded seat on my road bike. It takes some getting used to with the shape of the seat on your pubis, bear with it, your bones adjust and no more numb nads and coccydynia issues are worth the initial discomfort (although discomfort is probably slightly harsh to be fair).
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality
Cons: takes time to acclimatize
Had an issue with my previous two saddles this has done the job. Would highly recommend
Pros: Comfortable
Done 130km ride and without numbness and pain. Excellent value for money saddle!
Cons: got to find a compatible saddle bag
Excellent for older guys.
Pros: Good Fit, Comfortable, Adjustable
I've had problems with numbness on other saddles, when I changed to ISM those problems disappeared. They need to be fitted differently to conventional saddles but for me this has helped eliminate the lack of feeling down there.
Pros: Comfortable
Cons: Limited Color Choices
I bought this a month ago for my newly acquired Wattbike. Spending time in the aero position for the first time, I was suffering numbness down below. This has never been a problem before and I average around 4,000 miles each year. I was recommended this ‘different’ looking saddle and it eradicated any numbness/discomfort.
Pros: High Quality, Good Fit, Comfortable
Excellent padding. It doesn't feel 'soft' as it holds you well but provides a comfortable base. I highly recommend this seat for aero positioning. For the size and weight (yes, you do need to compromise for a more comfortable seat) it is unobtrusive in design.
Pros: Good Fit
I bought this saddle after I was getting some long ride numbness on my XC bike. I looked around and wanted something that I could use all day without getting a sore bum but worked when it came to numbness of the other kind. This was recommended by a friend so I went for it. The saddle price is reasonably high and when I got it and looked at it, it could be seen that it wasn't the most-tidily built job in the world as some of the other reviews have noted. However, I tried it and to be it has been great. A very comfortable saddle once you get used to it and able to all day/multi-day events.
Pros: very comfy with or without cycling shorts, looks ok, reasonably light, good hand grab on the back
Cons: not the best build quality
I bought this saddle following repeated episodes of prostate discomfort largely on the back of a hint from my doctor that cycling was not helping the issue.
This is not a miracle solution but it has certainly helped. It is definitely NOT the most comfortable saddle I have ever owned. That honor goes to a really tacky plastic job that came new on my Rocky Mountain Hammerrace way back in about 2002. This is comfortable when you get used to it; the sit bones take more of a hit with this saddle. If you are well padded this may not be a problem, but for skinny gits like me you will need adjustment time. If I'm honest I find this a little wide and I occasionally get inner thigh soreness. On my road bike I have a PN1.1 saddle (N=narrow) and this is - for me - more comfy.
Pros: Comfortable, pressure relieving
After being treated for Prostate Cancer and its subsequent side-effects, I could no longer use a conventional saddle. I tried various anatomic saddles, all without success. I was planning on buying a PR 2.0 saddle, but it
was out of stock. Instead I bought this one which is slightly softer. It took a few short test rides to find the right position. Compared with a normal saddle this one caused me almost no soreness and pain. I was previously using a Specialized Avatar saddle, but I could only ride for an hour or so. I can now ride for much longer. The only thing I don't like is the inbuilt transition hook. It interferes with my Topeak saddle bag, I wish it was removable. I can't guarantee that an ISM saddle is right for you. But if you've tried various normal saddles, it may be worth trying one.
Pros: Comfortable
Cons: non removable transition hook
This is my 5th ISM saddle. All my bikes now got some version of ISM on them, they just work for me.
Got the one with more padding (50) for the gravel bike. Did a few rides on it so far and seems like it had been the right choice.
I'm new to cycling but am in training for a long distance ride next year. Having suffered appalling pain (and injury) using well-padded saddles designed for women, I thought I'd try this. I really wasn't expecting it to make much difference but I was wrong. It's fantastic.
Pros: Comfortable, High Quality
I have tried many seats but this is the most comfortable I have used. Really makes a difference on really long rides. Would highly recommend.
Pros: Comfortable, Good Fit, High Quality
This is the second one of these I have purchased. The first one I bought for my road bike after struggling on two previous saddle types then I found this. I have used that one for 18 months and it is great. Then I bought a second hand bike to use on my indoor trainer but found I couldn't cope with more than about an hour on the saddle. As the stems were different diameter it wasn't a simple matter to swap them so I took the plunge and bought another ISM PR1.0 and the difference is amazing. I know everyone is different but this one solved my saddle problems (twice). Not the cheapest but as always you get what you pay for. Highly recommended. Take care to view the setup video on the ISM website as they are a little different to the norm.
Pros: five star comfort
Cons: a bit pricey
Bought this to replace my ISM century, this one is smaller in length and width so is not so comfy only compared to the century, the the PR 2.0 is closer to the old century, having said that it is still good for 50 plus miles of relative comfort.
Pros: Good Fit, High Quality
Cons: check sizing
I ride 5,000 miles a yr. My old seat was causing me a lot of pain. After 4 rides on the PR 1.0 and a little tweaking each time, I found the sweet spot. Rode pain-free today. Can’t wait to ride again. This seat put the fun back in riding.
Takes a while to get used to the ISM saddles but I find them very comfortable. I started out on the ISM Adamo Prologue and when I bought a new bike I ordered the ISM PR 1.0 when the Prologue was no longer available. I actually feel it is more comfortable than the longer Prologue.
If you can get past the way it looks you may find, like I did, a very comfortable saddle. I was suffering with pain in my knees when I stood out of the saddle and after changing to this saddle that disappeared. Also better for my back and no pressure on soft tissue.
Pros: High Quality, Good Fit, Comfortable
Cons: Unattractive
